Tola Odeyemi is the Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Global Outreach & Partnerships. She works in the Lagos State Office of Overseas Affairs & Investment popularly known as Lagos Global. She started her career as a software developer and systems analyst. She worked in software development and power for before crossing over to the public sector.
Before her recent appointment to Lagos state in 2016, Tola worked in the Shared Services office under the Banking Operations Directorate of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The office was responsible for the Banking Industry Infrastructure Transformation Program that included an Industry Wide Cash Management Infrastructure project, Financial Infrastructure & Services project, and IT standards for the banking sector.
Tola has a strong passion for increasing youth and female participation in public service and politics. She particularly tries to support and encourage women to take strides without fear and equips them with tools to enable them to advance confidently in their career paths. In addition, she is a member of the Executive Board of Serving With Love, a non-profit organization devoted to providing social and economic assistance to disadvantaged women, children and families.
Tola holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University, Baltimore and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from George Washington University. She is a certified Data Center Infrastructure Specialist and a Data Center Operations Manager. Her hobbies are reading, kickboxing, listening to music, baking and politics.
